How Your Membership Supports the NSL

  • It continues to sponsor a wide range of ongoing initiatives, forums and symposia, and activities that enhance, support, and promote our Submarine Force and the Navy worldwide

The NSL supports today’s Submarine Force by:

  • Holding an All-Membership “Annual Symposium” in the fall. Ship and Command reunions are scheduled to coincide with the dates of the symposium to maximize attendance. Some of the presentations are reproduced and distributed to the membership in The Submarine Review.
  • Sponsoring an Annual “Submarine Technology Symposium” in connection with The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL). The proceedings are reproduced and distributed to the attendees and the Submarine Force.
  • Hosting an Annual “Corporate Benefactors Recognition Days” event that conveys Submarine Force issues `and requirements to selected members of Congress, industry, and corporate America
  • Hosting with the Naval Historical Center and Naval Historical Foundation an “Annual Submarine History Seminar” at the Navy Memorial during the week of the Submarine Force Birthday
  • Initiating studies, when requested, to address issues of importance to the Submarine Force
  • Administering a comprehensive Submarine Force awards program for all submariners
  • Authoring special NSL sections in issues of the CNO-sponsored quarterly professional magazine Undersea Warfare

The Naval Submarine League educates the public, government leaders, and local civic and educational organizations on Submarine matters through:

  • A Speakers Program with videos, slides, PowerPoint™ presentations, and handout materials
  • The free distribution of informative material and handouts such as videos, slides, background papers, speeches, historical articles, etc.
  • Monetary grants for individual or institutional educational studies and research pertaining to Submarines and support of educational programs at submarine memorial ships and museums
  • The NSL website, which provides information on Submarines, Submariners, current Submarine activities and issues, and Submarine history and heritage
  • Publication of special Submarine-related studies
  • An opportunity for membership for submarine advocates that is available to everyone
